The Astronomical Society of Iran (ASI) is a non-beneficiary institute established for the development of astronomy including improvements in educational quality and research and boosting the national collaboration among scientific and research institutes in the country.

The society represents Iran professional astronomers around the world and within the IAU. The ASI works with individuals and organisations. Since 2012, the ASI links with amateur community has seen a new shape to it. Now amateur groups can be connected through organisational membership.
